Spirit of the Rebellion Deck List Dump: Hero Edition

Continuing the Spirit of the Rebellion deck list dump, we now review a few hero decks featuring new characters!

To start off, we have a character combination that's been receiving a lot of discussion as of late!  Poe/Maz plays a bit similarly to Poe/Rey, but instead of throwing mind probes, force throws, and one with the force, you're throwing Launch Bay, Thermal Detonators, Rocket Launchers, Falcons, and U-Wing.  This deck has the potential for really strong action economy just off of Maz's ability, and the potential to also play the supports through Poe's special.  An extremely explosive deck that tries to just abuse action economy and a powerful special to deal a lot of damage at once.

Another extremely explosive deck, Luke/Maz also features explosive starts using a combination of Force Speed and Maz's ability, which give this deck a lot of potential damage as long as Luke's die are still in the pool.  Your economy becomes fueled through the use of smuggling, allowing you to ramp upgrades up to eventually land force throw and/or lone operative on Luke to keep him alive.  My Ally is the Force also becomes extremely potent in this deck, allowing Luke to use his focus to turn the same die to 3 damage, or just resolving 3 damage twice, or resolving force throw twice.

A basic range-based hero deck, Jyn/Rebel Commando features more defensive options than Leia/Ackbar, hopefully giving more choices to play more expensive upgrades throughout the game, such as rocket launcher and lone operative, which both help to deal additional damage, or keep Jyn alive longer to deal more damage.  Access to second chance gives Jyn a lot of staying power, and Rebel offers perfect synergy with Jyn's effect to toolbox any card from your discard pile for a discount.
Although not as potentially explosive as Luke/Maz, Obi-Wan/Rey offers a little more resiliency, as Rey is more likely to carry a game after Obi-Wan is defeated, especially after a free one with the force or three drop upgrade.  Handcrafted Light Bow is notably one of the strongest upgrades in Spirit of the Rebellion, featuring very strong special sides, and two damage sides.  The amount of focus present in this deck provides consistency, and helps ensure that Obi-Wan resolves a few 3 damage sides before going down.

With character die sides featuring a lot of disrupt, and an ability that limits your opponent's ability to claim, this deck is sure to frustrate some players.  The combination of fast hands and disrupt can leave your opponent starting every turn with zero resources, which will make it difficult for them to play upgrades, removal, or even claim, thanks to Termin's ability.  Red ambush cards synergize well with Han's ability and between Han's shield generation, second chance, lone operative, and the amount of disrupt that will go out throughout the game, decks that don't get most of their damage out of character die will struggle to finish off Han.

A large majority of decks in this game will tend to be fast decks, featuring lots of damage and action cheating to try to end the game as soon as possible.  For better or worse, these decks will always remain relevant and a big part of the meta, as they are generally easy to build, easy to pilot, extremely forgiving of mistakes, and punish players who want to play an extremely slow game.  This deck, however, is different, and hedges on playing a long , drawn out game by generating many resources to play expensive supports and eventually winning off of rolling out and resolving many strong, high-impact supports to accomplish this.  Upgrades such as second chance, lone operative, and field medic help prolong the game, and if your rolls don't happen to go the way you want to, you can always just resolve a planned explosion on a launch bay die and some hired gun ranged damage faces to just deal 10 damage right off the bat.

Hope you enjoyed these lists and the ideas provided a good starting point for your own deck ideas! Check back next time, and we'll review some of our old favorites and see how Spirit of the Rebellion will change the current combination of characters!
